Wipe Lime

How do clean dried water spots on my car?
I have dried water spots on my car windows. It's like caked on. I tried car wash, vinegar, bathroom cleaner, lime remover. None of it would work. How do I get it off. Do I have get new windows?
And also, what causes them? Is it caused by me hosing off my car without drying or wiping it afterwards?
Try polishing compound. Water spots are cause by sprinkler or water hose. When the sun hits, the water dries up and cause the water spots.

How to Clean Glass without Damaging It
Considering the amount of specialty products currently available on the market, it is relatively easy to clean the glass in your home. However, many people do not take the time and trouble to go about this process correctly. To effectively clean glass without damaging it, it is important that one use the right tools and techniques. Most people instinctively clean glass when it is dry, as that is when dirt or smudges are visible. However, depending upon the surface that is being cleaned, simply wiping the glass down with a towel or duster usually accomplishes little more than moving dirt around.
Perhaps one of the more difficult cleaning challenges is removing dry paint from glass. The paint can be removed by applying a window cleaning solution to the affected area. The ratio of soap to water you should use in the process would be the same that you would use for washing dishes in a sink. First apply the cleaning solution and use a window scraper to remove the paint, next reapply the cleaning solution and rinse, and then use a squeegee to dry it off. Never use a razor blade to remove paint or other substances from dry glass as it’s a sure way to scratch the glass.
Glass ceramic stove tops look great when they are new, but eventually they will accumulate grease and dirt and need to be cleaned in order to keep their appearance. Using liquid dishwashing detergent works extremely well, although you should always make sure that the stove top has cooled completely before cleaning it. For stubborn or piled-up grease and dirt, you should allow the cleaning liquid to sit and soak for a few minutes before wiping it off.
Vinegar can also be used to effectively clean different types of glass (mirrors, shower doors, windows) without causing damage. To clean your windows, simply mix half water and half vinegar solution and pour into a plastic spray bottle. Then spray the solution onto the glass and wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth. Any dirt, dust or grease should disappear instantly and any streaks can be wiped clean with a crumpled up sheet of newspaper. Mirrors in your home can be cleaned in much the same manner and the scum that accumulates on a glass shower door can be easily removed by spraying it with undiluted vinegar, letting it sit for some time, and then wiping it dry.
Glass can also easily become cloudy, especially if it has not been cleaned in a long time. While it can be difficult to clean smudged or cloudy glass, there are several household products available that make the task a lot easier. Denture cream mixed with water is an effective cleanser when glass is left to soak in the solution. Also, glass rubbed with Vaseline and left to soak will also help reduce cloudiness. Additionally, lime deposits can be removed from a glass product by allowing it to soak for a prolonged period of time in undiluted vinegar.
If you happen to have any stained glass in your home than you know that it can be quite difficult to clean without significantly damaging or scratching it. Stained glass windows generally do not require anything more than an occasional dusting. However, when it comes time to the glass to be cleaned you can get the job done using a soft cloth and a bowl of warm water mixed with mild dishwashing liquid. It is important that you try not to use any harsh liquids that contain vinegar, ammonia or abrasives as doing so is a sure way to scratch the glass.
Minor scratches on glass can be easily repaired using two things you probably have in your home somewhere: newspaper and toothpaste. Apply toothpaste (white color only) to the scratched surface and rub it gently with a newspaper. The toothpaste will work as a light abrasive and help to eliminate the scratches on the surface. This method will only work on minor scratches. If you have a deep scratch, it might be a good time to think about replacing the glass.
Keeping your car windshield clean is essential for safety reasons and should be done at least every few months. To clean your windshield, simply spray glass cleaner on the inside and outside and then wipe it dry with old newspaper. The ink on the newspaper acts as a mild abrasive, although it will not scratch the windshield. It is also important that you keep your windshield wipers clean as well. This can be done by gently wiping the blades with a little bit of rubbing alcohol.
Clean glass can really help to make a home really shine and stand out. If you take the time to clean your glass properly, you have less of a chance of damaging or scratching the surface.
